Queensland Fuel Group origins began in the small QLD/NSW border town of Pottsville.
It was here that our founder Bill Lowe owned and operated Pottsville Trucking carting
a wide variety of products to the people of QLD and NSW. Bill Lowe was man of great
vision and foresight and it soon became apparent to him that the delivery of small
quantity bulk fuel by 205 litre (44 gallon drums) was costly and time consuming
to the public. A custom built truck was designed catering for the delivery of small
to medium sized bulk fuel and it didn't take long before a fleet of trucks was required.
We are proud of our long association with rural Queensland, which has existed for
over a quarter of a century. Bill Lowe's' affinity with the bush saw Independent
Fuel Supplies as the first independent operator to open retail and
bulk fuel sites in rural Queensland. Our 'Road-Trains' and 'B-Doubles' are
a common sight throughout central and western Queensland.
Again in the mid eighties Bill Lowe's ability to identify trends in the constantly
changing fuel industry brought about 'On-Site Refuelling'
to supply commercial plant operators fuel "on the job". This service,
which continues to grow today, provides operators with substantial savings by minimising
downtime and costs associated with the transportation and storage of diesel on worksites.
Bill Lowe's inspiration has put Queensland Fuel Group at the forefront of bulk fuel
distribution, retail site development and bulk depots throughout Queensland.
Upon his death in 1995 his sons, Tony and Mark, have fostered the expansion and
development of the Queensland Fuel Group in the market place and today we are the
largest independent fuel supplier in Queensland. Our retail service station network
covers the majority of Queensland and our bulk distribution fleets provides a level
of service, which is the benchmark of the industry.
We consider it our privilege to provide our customers all their fuel and oil requirements
in the high standards demanded by our tradition of excellence.
